Biography: 

Dr. Catherine Hankins MD PhD FRCPC CM is a Professor of Public and Population Health. Her current research interests focus on biomedical HIV prevention, modelling HIV testing uptake, and strategies to increase HIV testing uptake. She is Co-Principal Investigator (PI) for two clinical trials of biomedical HIV prevention (monoclonal antibodies, implants) in women in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In Canada, she is Co-PI on a modelling study with Mathieu Maheu-Giroux and Shelly Clark and is a co-investigator (McGill lead is Marina Klein) on a study of Know-Your-Status strategies among Indigenous people in Saskatchewan. Dr. Hankins teaches in the second year of McGill’s Master of Science in Public Health. Her course EPIB 678 is a 3-credit, graduate-level course designed to provide students with an overview of knowledge translation processes for effective evidence-informed public health leadership and to build their knowledge translation skills. She teaches in PPHS 629 Public Health Forum and co-teaches PPHS 630 Public Health Practicum.
