Anita Ahmad, PhD Student (year 2)
Anita Ahmadi is a second-year doctoral student at McGill University’s Institute of Islamic Studies. Her research examines Ottoman–Iranian cultural relations in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, with particular attention to questions of literature, authority, and intellectual exchange. She previously completed a master’s degree on Sultan Selīm I’s Persian divan and the role of poetry in constructions of sacral kingship. Before that, she earned a B.A. and M.A. in Persian Language and Literature, where her thesis focused on the cultural politics of the Pahlavi state (1925–1941) through archival sources.
