Lightsheet Z.1 Microscope

Are you interested in imaging thicker samples like brains, organoids,
or even whole organisms? Dead or alive?

The Zeiss Lightsheet Z1 Selective Plane Illumination Microscope will allow you to make fast optical sections through larger specimen, with a minimum of bleaching and photo-toxicity.

Light Sheet Fluorescence Microscopy (LSFM)

A thin light sheet illuminates the sample from the side (perpendicular to the axis of the detection lens), thus exciting only fluorophors in and around the the focal plane of the detection lens. This way, only a minimum of out-of-focus light is produced.

Our Lightsheet Z1 is managed by the Advanced BioImaging Facility (ABIF) located in the ground floor of the Bellini Pavilion at the McGill Life Science Complex. To learn more about instrument access and fee structure, visit the ABIF website or request a consultation/training.
