A protocol, or standard operating procedure, is a document that describes precisely and concisely how to conduct an experiment. Effective protocols keep projects and labs on track. Protocols are a gray zone in academic writing: although effective researchers must master them, they are seldom discussed.
This workshop discusses them! Participate and you will learn to:
- Identify key characteristics of effective research protocols
- Write a short protocol that is clear and precise
- Develop a protocol that other researchers could use to perform an experiment
This workshop will be held on Friday, March 14, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Registered students will receive the location in a confirmation email.
Dr. Jennifer Ronholm, a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences, will lead the workshop.
