Description
Fellowship writing requires clearly and concisely communicating complex ideas within an allotted space, which is often challenging. This hands-on workshop will provide participants with tips and practice on how to revise text without losing the integrity of their ideas.
Learning Objective
Participants will:*Learn revision tips and strategies*Practice revising sample texts for concision, clarity, and cohesion*Apply one or two techniques to a short sample of their own work.
Instructions: To make the workshop as productive as possible, please identify 2-4 paragraphs of your fellowship application that you would like to improve. (A draft is fine.)
Facilitator
Alexandra Bacopoulos-Viau holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, where her thesis was awarded the 2014 Dissertation Prize from the Forum for the History of Human Science. She has taught at Cambridge, Harvard, NYU, and McGill, and has received research support from granting bodies such as SSHRC, the Banting postdoctoral fellowships, and the Cambridge European Trust. At Graphos, she helps graduate students to identify and advance their own writing goals.
