Preparing Content

Here are some considerations that clients should keep in mind when submitting content:

  1. Our studio charges a flat fee of $50/hour. This is rate applies for any design, consultation, and administration services. Clients are advised to have all content prepared and approved before handing in to the designers to avoid accumulating unnecessary design charges during layout changes and edits. Whenever possible, make all decisions about content BEFORE submitting your brief for fastest turn-around and most reasonable costs.

  2. Before submitting photos, remember to check that they are high-resolution. This is especially important if your project will be printed. If the photo is small or fuzzy on your screen its resolution is probably too low to work with in print.

  3. Good photography can make a world of difference. It can be worthwhile to hire a professional photographer for your projects. We can assist by art directing the photo shoot to ensure that the subject, style, composition are a good fit. Alternatively, we can also suggest stock photos if hiring a photographer is not an option.

  4. Keep the target audience in mind when making decisions about the design approach. Sometimes that audience's interests, likes, and dislikes can be quite different from your own. Consider adapting the voice, tone, photography, and other elements to suit them, rather than decision makers.

  5. Please factor in at least two weeks in advance of date of delivery. Our office often has several projects on the go and we generally require some notice to place new projects into our production queue.

  6. We can recommend ways to be more environmentally-friendly through use of FSC-Certified or 100% recycled paper or by using electronic media for some of your publications.
