Shuttle Service

Complimentary shuttle service will be available for all graduates, families, guests, members of the Platform Party, staff and volunteers. The service will be available daily as of 8:00 a.m., for an hour and a half before and after each ceremony. We encourage the use of the shuttle service as it will be most accessible way to get to the venue.

All buses will leave from 680 Sherbrooke Street West and arrive at the Tomlinson Fieldhouse drop-off point within 10-15 minutes. The service includes accessible transportation for passengers with reduced mobility. To reduce wait times, please use the Shuttle for Passengers with Reduced Mobility form, to submit your request for this service.

The venue will open one hour and thirty minutes before the start of the ceremony for graduates and one hour before the start of the ceremony for guests

Following the conclusion of the ceremony, buses will leave the venue, from the same drop-off point to return to 680 Sherbrooke Street West.

Shuttle Bus Route: The bus will leave 680 Sherbrooke St. West to go up University St. and will turn right next to Molson Stadium (see map below). The drop-off point is at the McConnell Arena Parking lot that is at the top of Molson Stadium. From there, you need to walk down the path (see photo) to get to the Tomlinson Fieldhouse entrance. As the path is a bit steep, there will be golf carts to take anyone with mobility concerns to the Fieldhouse entrance.

Car/Taxi Drop-off

You can get dropped off at the Tomlinson Fieldhouse by car or taxi.

The way to access the venue is by driving north on Park Avenue and taking a left on Chemin Olmstead. Refer to the map for more details.

Drop-offs are considered local traffic so your car or taxi can turn on Chemin Olmstead. There is a sign at the corner of Chemin Olmstead that indicates in French 'local traffic only/circulation locale seulement'.

Walking to the Venue

If you are walking to the venue, you must use the Molson Stadium Garage access (see photo) to get to the Tomlinson Atrium (entrance for graduates) and Fieldhouse (entrance for guests). We ask that you please not use the entrance at 475 Pine Ave. West. This entrance is only for members of the Platform Party, staff and volunteers.

If you are walking from Pine Ave east or Parc Ave, you can use the path right next to the Tomlinson Fieldhouse building to get to the entrance on the north side of the building.

IMPORTANT: The walking path is gravel and there are stairs to get to the Tomlinson Fieldhouse. This path is not recommended for anyone with mobility issues.

Metro/Bus

The McGill metro station is located close to McGill's downtown campus on the green line, providing a convenient option for getting to the university. This is the simplest and most recommended mode of transportation when attending convocation. The Convocation Shuttle Bus stop at 680 Sherbrooke St. West is a short walk from the McGill metro station.

The Place des Arts metro station is also an option to get to the Tomlinson Fieldhouse. From this station, you can take the STM 80 Bus up Parc Ave and get off at the corner of Parc Ave and Pine Ave. From there you would need to use the walking path next to the Fieldhouse to get to the entrance. Note that this option is not recommended for anyone with mobility issues.

Public transportation in the city is handled by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM).

Airport

If you are arriving from the airport on the 747 bus, you will already possess a 24-hour day metro/bus pass. Guests arriving by airplane can consult this website for information on how to get to the city from the airport.

Bike share

Bixi is a public bicycle-sharing program originating in Montreal. The base rate of unlocking a bike for a one-way pass costs $1.60, plus an extra fee of $0.21 cents per minute while riding a regular bike or $0.36 cents per minute while riding an electric one. Bikes can be checked out and subsequently returned to any of the hundreds of parking stations in the city, including one close to the Tomlinson Fieldhouse at the intersection of Rue Hutchison and Ave des Pins, and one just outside of McGill Service Point on McTavish Street.

Parking

There is no public parking at the Tomlinson Fieldhouse.

The best option is to leave your car at home and avoid the traffic in the city core. Montreal has many one-way streets and traffic customs you may be unfamiliar with. All street signs will be in French. There is no parking on the McGill Downtown Campus.
