Electives

Version française

The Division of Geriatric Medicine offers flexible elective opportunities tailored to each learner’s goals and interests in the care of older adults. Students can gain experience in a range of clinical settings, including acute in-patient geriatric units, consultation services in the emergency department and on hospital wards, and specialized outpatient clinics such as memory, mobility and falls, and geriatric oncology. Opportunities may also include exposure to geriatric day programs, home visits, and long-term care.

Electives are available across several McGill-affiliated teaching sites:

  • Jewish General Hospital
  • Royal Victoria Hospital
  • Montreal General Hospital
  • St. Mary’s Hospital
  • Lachine General Hospital

Students will develop skills in comprehensive assessment, medication review, functional and cognitive evaluation, and person-centred management of frailty and complex comorbidities, working closely with interprofessional teams.

This elective is open to all learners seeking to strengthen their ability to provide high-quality care for older adults in diverse healthcare settings.
