WILDERNESS WALK REFLECTIONS

Thursday, April 26, 2012 17:30to19:30
1514 Docteur-Penfield Avenue, 1514 Docteur-Penfield Avenue, Maison Jeanne Sauvé, Montreal, CA

This spring, Sadia Rafiquddin, a 2011-2012 Pakistani-Canadian Sauvé Scholar, accompanied Innu Elder Elizabeth Penashue (Tshaukuesh) on her last annual Wilderness Walk, a journey into Labrador’s Mealy Mountains. Traveling in the traditional Innu way, by snowshoes and toboggans, the Wilderness Walk is a symbol of Innu dedication to protecting the land, the children and the Innu way of life.

During her presentation, Sadia will share reflections about her remarkable journey, convey lessons imparted by her guides, and display photographs of the people and places she saw along the meshkinou (path).

Kindly confirm by 20 April, 2012 to rsvp [at] jeannesauve.org
