GEM2's Co-Leads
Mathieu Maheu-Giroux
Prof. Maheu-Giroux is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, where he holds the Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Population Health Modeling. He is an "Associated Researcher" at the Institut de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ). He is an interdisciplinary public health researcher and his work focuses primarily on 1) infectious disease modeling, 2) epidemiology and surveillance, and 3) impact and economic evaluations of public health interventions.
Talía Malagón
Dr. Talía Malagón is an epidemiologist, mathematical modeller, and assistant professor in the Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology at McGill University and at St Mary’s Research Centre. Her research projects include understanding the predictors of human papillomavirus transmission between sexual partners, risk factors for cervical precancer, and decision modeling to evaluate the balance of screening harms and benefits of cervical cancer screening, and health inequalities in cancer incidence and cancer care pathways.
Caroline Wagner
Caroline Wagner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at McGill University. She holds an MSc and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, where she used experiment and theory to study the microscopic and macroscopic rheological properties of mucus. She then trained as a postdoctoral fellow in mathematical disease modeling at Princeton University. Her research program focusses on understanding interactions between pathogens and biological fluids, and modeling the effect of such interactions on population-level disease transmission and dynamics.
Faculty Affiliates
Jonathon Campbell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Global and Public Health. His research centres on generating evidence to inform the design and implementation of novel tuberculosis prevention and care strategies that maximize public health impact, while minimizing health system and patient costs.
Alton Russell is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He develops decision analytic models and data-driven analyses for multiple areas of health policy and clinical practice, including blood donation and transfusion, managing pediatric kidney disease, opioid use disorder and overdose, and gastroenterology.
