Patrick Lawler

Dr. Patrick Lawler is a McGill and Harvard-trained cardiologist and clinician-scientist at the McGill University Health Centre. He completed his medical degree at McGill University, followed by residency in internal medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital. He subsequently trained in cardiology and critical care at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and completed a graduate degree from the Harvard School of Public Health. In 2023, Dr. Lawler joined the MUHC as the inaugural recipient of the MUHC Foundation's Rising Star Award, and assumed the role of Director of the Coronary Intensive Care Unit.
His research focuses on developing precision-medicine approaches for the prevention and treatment of critical illness, with a scientific focus on thrombosis, inflammation, and metabolism at the intersection of cardiovascular disease and severe infection. He leads a research program employing clinical trials, clinical epidemiology, and translational methods.
