How Do I Apply? 

The deadline to submit your application is January 4, 2027, for trainees starting July 1st.

  1. Please complete the Application Package, and attach the supporting documents outlined below with your application.

  2. Don’t forget to review the Application Checklist before submitting your full application as one single PDF document to cip.med [at] mcgill.ca (cip[dot]med[at]mcgill[dot]ca).

  3. NOTE: Your PDF documents can be merged using PDF Merge.

Supporting Documents

  1. A one-page Letter of intent explaining your motivations for applying to the CIP, your expectations, and future goals as a Clinician Scientist
  2. Research Project Summary: Provide a summary of your research project including background, hypothesis, objectives, and brief methodology used for the research proposal.
    ** Please include relevant transcripts from medical or graduate programs.
  3. Candidate’s Canadian Common CV (CCV)
  4. Supervisors’ CIHR Biosketch CV
  5. Letter of support from your research supervisor
  6. Proof of submitted applications to both the FRQS training award and the CIHR training award, if funding is requested.

FRQS: FRQS/MSSS training program for medical residents in specialized medicine aiming for a career in research (5-year Award)

Residents cannot apply to the 5-year FRQS award and their MSc program at the same time. Applications are limited. Please contact the cip.med [at] mcgill.ca (subject: FRQS%205-Year%20Award) (CIP Program Director) to confirm eligibility before applying.
