Welcome to Dr. K. A. Myers Pediatric Epilepsy Research Group
BRIEF OVERVIEW
Dr. Myers' research program undertakes clinical research with the ultimate goal of improving the care of people with epilepsy. We work with many collaborators across Canada and around the world.
AREAS OF RESEARCH
- Clinical trials for children with epilepsy and other neurologic disorders.
- Improving understanding of genetic mechanisms of epilepsy.
- Understanding autonomic dysfunction in epilepsy and the relationship to SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy).
- Defining the phenotypic spectrum for specific genetic forms of epilepsy.
Because early diagnosis and care, positively influence the life trajectory of children with neurodevelopmental disorders, Dr. Myers' clinical research group is in charge of Neurodevelopmental Disorders Biobank, prospective, retrospective studies, as well as clinical trials to allow the development of new clinical tools for the diagnosis and treatment of childhood neurological disease.
