Quebec federation honours Dr. Tampieri

Neuroradiologist recognized for her innovations in healthcare The Quebec Federation of Medical Specialists (Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec), an umbrella organization embracing medical specialist groups in the province, has chosen Dr. Donatella Tampieri of the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital (The Neuro) as one of three recipients of its 2016 Prix d’excellence en innovations des soins de santé. Marking Stroke Month - June 2016

Raising awareness about stroke   Every ten minutes, someone in Canada suffers a stroke. Strokes kill 14,000 Canadians each year, making stroke the third leading cause of death in this country. The Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital (The Neuro) hopes to increase public awareness about the dangers of stroke by marking Stroke Month. People who learn about the causes of stroke can take measures to reduce their chances of having a stroke.   What is a stroke?

Stroke month - June

Time is brain: for every minute a stroke is left untreated, 2 million brain cells are destroyed. The sooner patients are treated, the higher the chances of survival with fewer disabilities.  Patients with acute strokes and transient ischemic attack (TIA) are assessed and treated at the right place, the right time and by the right professionals thanks to ultra-specialized stroke centres at the Montreal General Hospital  and The Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital.
