McGill students, faculty and staff can now use the Interlibrary Loans (ILL) service to borrow some physical materials not available at the McGill Library.

When conducting a search in the McGill Library catalogue (Sofia Discovery tool), results will identify whether or not the item is available from McGill Library, and if not, which other universities have an available copy. Make an ILL request by clicking on the Request via Interlibrary Loans button found on the search results page.

McGill students, faculty and staff can now connect remotely to Library workstations in order to use specialized software that may not be available on personal computers. Use McGill IT's AnyDesk Service to locate an available library workstation. Access the workstation remotely using Microsoft Remote Desktop. Learn more about locating & connecting to an available Library workstation here.

The Library is pleased to announce that beginning September 14, students on Macdonald Campus can take advantage of a study hub located in "The Link" area of the Barton Building.  The Macdonald Campus Study Hub is re-imagined safe space designed for quiet and individual study. The work space has been retrofitted to allow for social distancing and will follow all of McGill’s careful safety protocols, including enhanced cleaning, mandatory mask use when circulating, safe lineups, and clear signage.

Dataverse, a local solution for research data management and archiving is now available at McGill. McGill faculty, students, researchers and staff are welcome to deposit datasets in the McGill Dataverse repository. All data are stored securely on servers located in Canada. Data can be publicly accessible, available to specific individuals, or private/restricted.

The Library has automatically renewed all checked-out items that were originally due between March 1, 2020 and January 3, 2021. The new due date for these materials will be January 4, 2021. After January 4, checked-out items will automatically be renewed unless the user account has expired or if a hold is placed on the item.

The Library is pleased to announce that McGill students, faculty and staff can now take advantage of an expanded Terrace Pickup Service for print books not available electronically or through the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access Service (ETAS). Phase two of this service provides access to books housed in the McLennan-Redpath Library Complex (Humanities, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering), Nahum Gelber Law Library, the Islamic Studies Library and the Marvin Duchow Music Library. Materials from other branches are not available at this time.
