Dr. Caroline Paquette, of our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE), has been approved for a New Investigator Award on behalf of the Scientific Advisory Board of Parkinson Canada. The award will aid Dr. Caroline Paquette in continuing the research project "Neuronal correlates of turning impairments in Parkinson's disease”.
Poetic autoethnographies project will develop participatory research through artist-practitioner expertise
A new project led by University of Brighton's Professor Helen Johnson, Visiting Researcher with the Institute for Human Development and Well-Being (IHDW), seeks to develop a collaborative, participatory research method that capitalizes on the respective strengths of spoken word artists and social scientific researchers. The project is funded by the UK's National Centre for Research Methods and the University of Brighton, in association with Professor Claudia Mitchell, Director of IHDW.

Alumnus of McGill's Faculty of Education John Parisella (MA’71, DipEd’73) was appointed to the National Order of Quebec this month. “The National Order of Quebec gives us the opportunity to highlight the achievements of remarkable Quebecers,” said Premier Philippe Couillard at the announcement earlier this month. “Each one of these exceptional men and women are leaders in their respective fields. It seems to me that it is entirely appropriate – even necessary – that we express our gratitude to them for their respective contributions to the advancement of our society.”
Dr. Armando Bertone, of our Deparment of Educational and Counselling Psychology, has been granted tenure by McGill's Board of Governors. The board's decision to grant tenure to 44 Assistant Professors, promoting them to Associate Professor, was announced in May, 2016.
Professor Jeffrey Derevensky, of our Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology (ECP), has been awarded the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling's prestigious Joanna Franklin Pay-it-Forward Award for outstanding contributions to the field of gambling and the training of the next generation of professionals.
The Faculty of Education is pleased to announce that Professor Anila Asghar has been appointed as the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies. In this role Dr. Asghar is responsible for facilitating the ongoing development of successful research programs, and for promoting the excellence of our graduate students by actively supporting and coordinating all facets of graduate academic life in the Faculty of Education.
