Symposium on: "The History of Sexuality"

The Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies (IGSF) presents a symposium on: "The History of Sexuality," with the Departments of History and English.  This symposium is organized by members of the IGSF research axis "Historical Perspectives."

 

Participants include:

Ara Osterweil, Department of English, McGill University, presenting: "Depression Darlings: Adolescent Attractions in Child Bride and The Wizard of Oz."

Joan Cadden, Department of History, University of California Davis, presenting: "Sharing the Marks of Gender in Medieval Europe: Sodomites and Women."

Valerie Traub, Departments of English and Women's Studies, University of Michigan, presenting: "Making Sexual Knowledge."

Sebastia Matzner, Department of Classics, King's College, London, presenting: "The Myth is Out There. Diachronicity and Synchronicity in Essentialist Models of 'Homosexual' Identity: Plato, Ulrichs - and Us."
