The Clinical & Regulatory Affairs Experience (C&RA Experience) Training Program: A part-time clinical and regulatory affairs training program, offered by the Research Institute of the MUHC, exclusively for current graduate students or postdoctoral fellows.

About this program                  

                                              

The C&RA Experience training program is accepting applications from health research trainees currently enrolled as a graduate student (MSc or PhD) or postdoc who would like to learn about:

 

  • Drug development,
  • Clinical trial design and regulatory processes,
  • Management and operations of clinical trials.              
  • Careers in clinical and regulatory affairs.

 

And who would like to:              

 

  • Build their skillsets (hard and soft) for a career in the industry.                             
  • Gain hands-on experience developed through case-studies, group exercises, job simulations and shadowing carried out in clinical trials environments [shadowing is for McGill Students only]    

 

Some of the concrete outcomes of this program for trainees are:         

                               

  • Completion of certifications in Good Clinical Practice (ICH) and Health Canada Division 5.
  • Knowledge of the regulations and practices around clinical research, interventional trials, sponsor-initiated trials, and drug development for adult and pediatric patients.
  • Access to a network of clinical trials professionals, mentors and past alumni of the program.
  • Exposure to a busy academic clinical trials centre (Centre for Innovative Medicine (CIM) of the Research Institute of the MUHC). [for McGill students only]

 

More information about the program:

 

Trainees in the C&RA program spend approximately 2 hours a week participating in online seminars designed to expand their knowledge of clinical research, clinical trials and associated careers. Participants will complete two formal clinical research certifications. In addition, trainees will have access to one-on-one career advising with a certified career educator.

 

New this year, the trainees in the program will participate in case-studies, group exercises and job simulations where they will receive feedback from mentors. If conditions allow, students from McGill University will shadow employees in a clinical trials environment.

 

This program is aimed at preparing trainees for a career as a scientist in industry, CRA, CRC, MSL, regulatory affairs specialist, scientific evaluator, and more.

 

Applications are competitive and spaces are limited. The application period is from September 26 – October 4, 2022.
