If you're a parent of a child with a developmental disability, you have probably heard about inclusive education, and you may have a number of questions about it. What is it, and what does it mean? What are the benefits for my child?
- The website inclusiveeducation.ca has put together a number of different articles and resources for parents, including their brochure, entitled: A Parent's Guide to Inclusive Education (http://www.inclusiveeducation.ca/documents/IncEd-ParentsYourRole.pdf). This site is also available in French.
- The British Columbia Association for Community Living has also put together an excellent handbook for parents on Inclusive Education. This document, available for free at http://www.communitylivingbc.ca/what_we_do/innovation/pdf/Final_Handbook... , is a 144-page guide through many different questions and situations that parents face. Some of the information is specific to British Columbia, but the majority of the document is fairly universal, and can help parents to better understand their rights and options.
