Welcome to the Building Links Virtual Resource Initiative!

This site is the final step of years of research into developmental disabilities and inclusive education. We have put together this site to help build a link between the research that we do, and the parents, teachers, and members of the community who can benefit from what this research has taught us.

On this site, you'll find information on a number of different developmental disabilities. We've also provided details about the research projects that we've conducted, as well as some examples of the research itself. Our "In Real Life" page shows real-world examples of inclusion at work, and the positive things that people with developmental disabilities offer our community. Finally, we have sections to provide links to resources for parents and teachers, to make it easier to promote understanding and inclusion!

We hope that you enjoy this website. If you have any questions, you can read more about the members of our team at the "About Us" page.

Attention artists with disabilities of all ages!

Welcome to the Building Links Resource Initiative! This site is brand new, and we are looking for ways to make the site better and better. We want to invite you to submit your artwork into a contest; the winning artwork will be featured at the top of the page - and will win an iPod!

This site is all about making connections and building bridges between researchers, teachers, and parents. We would like the picture at the top to be of a bridge. What kind of bridge, and whether the art is photography, painting, drawing, or any other form of art is up to you!

The picture you submit should be 940 pixels by 189 pixels in size. You can use this image template1.pdf as a guide: the blue area is the part of the image that will be seen, while the red rectangles will be covered by the McGill logo and the site's title. So please make sure that nothing important is covered by the red rectangles!

How to enter:

  • Entries into this contest can be sent to buildinglinks.mcgill [at] gmail.com.
  • Each person can enter up to 4 times.
  • People entering the contest can be any age
  • We ask that all entering artists are individuals with a developmental disability

Deadline for entries: TBA

The winning entry will be announced 2 weeks after the deadline. The winner of the contest will have their picture featured at the top of the page, and will win an iPod! Good luck!
