Graduate Student Travel Awards

CRBLM encourages student members to present their scientific results at an international conference. It is a profitable experience in the training of graduate students. Our aim is to facilitate the sharing and acquisition of new knowledge, networking and the fostering of scientific collaboration.

For in-person conferences: conference and travel fees up to $700 can be covered, and applications will be reviewed after the deadline (see below for dates). Note that the student is responsible for complying with all applicable regulations (institutional and governmental) related to travel.

Eligibility

  • CRBLM Graduate Student Members (Master’s and Doctorate)
  • Applicant must be first author and presenter

Deadlines

Round 1 – For conferences falling between May 1st and August 31. Deadline for application: April 30.

Round 2 – For conferences falling between September 1st and December 31. Deadline for application: August 31.

Round 3 – For conferences falling between January 1st and April 30. Deadline for application: December 31.

Note that it is not necessary to have received your acceptance to the conference at the time of your application.

Amount

The award will be issued as a reimbursement of up to $700 for allowable travel expenses related to the conference, i.e., travel, hotel, registration and meals (exclusive of alcohol). Upon their return from the conference, recipients are asked to contact the administrator at info [at] crblm.ca to schedule a meeting. Recipients will be asked to submit their original travel receipts, a copy of their conference presentation showing CRBLM’s affiliation and a copy of the conference program.

Applicants may have complementary funding but are not permitted to accept the award if the total funds received (from all sources) exceeds the expenses of the conference travel. In other words, students may not gain personal funds as a result of the award.
