Tuition fees
Students must register for their courses and pay before leaving for Africa. For more information about paying student fees, please visit the Student Accounts website. Students may give "guest access" to someone such as a parent to view their student account (tuition) via the internet.
Student Accounts provides the schedule of fees.
How do I pay my fees?
Once you have officially been accepted into the program and have confirmed that you will participate, the following will apply:
- You will make payments in installments based on due dates listed on the Get ready to go! page.
- Student Accounts will charge you at the start of the month in which the payment is due.
- If you do not pay the amount by the due date, you will be charged interest, like any other charge on your account.
- You should always check your Account Summary by Term in Minerva (not the e-bill), to see how much you have paid and how much remains to pay to the program.
The Student Accounts Website provides information on how to make payment. Use your McGill ID as the account number.
Refund policy
The program fees are non refundable. Unless for unseen circumstances and with the support of valid documentation (i.e., medical note) a withdrawal from the program is inevitable, a decision about possible refund would be undertaken.
Cancellation or termination by the UniversityThe McGill East Africa Field Study Semester is subject to security reviews right up to the time of departure. If the MEAFSS program is cancelled by the University for security or any other reason, there will be costs associated with this cancellation. Certain prepaid, fixed costs cannot be reimbursed/refunded. Applicants must be aware that security is a top priority for McGill and the MEAFSS Program. If there are any doubts about meeting the security standards, the MEAFSS Program will be cancelled at the University’s discretion.
Cancellation of the MEAFSS Program BEFORE departure: 80% of the two installments will be refunded.
Termination of the MEAFSS Program AFTER departure: This would only occur under exceptional circumstances. Based on the emergency response strategy, a decision about possible refunds would be undertaken only after the safe return of all participants and the assessment of the related expenses.
