In the piece, published October 25th, Howard discusses the recent outcry regarding NBC host Megyn Kelly, who defended blackface on-air during the Today show.

Philip S.S. Howard speaks to Le Devoir about cultural appropriation, cancelled Jazzfest show SLĀV

Journalist Catherine Lalonde, writing for Le Devoir about the recently cancelled production of SLĀV, spoke to Professor Philip Howard of our Department of Integrated Studies in Education. Last week Montreal's Jazz Festival cancelled the Robert Lepage and Betty Bonifassi production SLĀV  —which featured a largely white cast singing Black slave songs— amid criticisms from artists, academics, and the public.

“The problem with blackface”: Dr. Philip Howard article on recent “beef” between Drake, Pusha-T

Professor Philip Howard, of our Department of Integrated Studies in Education, has contributed an article to The Conversation on the subject of the recent highly publicized “beef” between rappers Drake and Pusha-T.

Pusha T circulated a photograph that showed Canadian musician Drake wearing blackface. Professor Philip Howard, who has been leading a project researching blackface in Canada, provides an analysis of some of the issues.

Arts Against PostRacialism Project Lead Professor Philip Howard interviewed by Queen's Gazette

Professor Philip Howard, Project Lead for the Arts Against PostRacialism (AAPR) initiative, and Assistant Professor with McGill's Department of Integrated Studies in Education, was interviewed earlier this week by Queen's Gazette on the subject of the upcoming AAPR events.

Arts Against PostRacialism was held at Queen's University Wednesday, October 25th.
