Online registration using Minerva
Minerva is McGill’s web-based Student Information System and the online resource most students will use to register for courses. During registration periods, online registration through Minerva is available 24 hours a day.
Simply login to Minerva and follow the step-by-step instructions. It’s quick, simple and secure.
Current, Returning or Newly Admitted Students in a program can register for their courses online.
There are a number of legal documents that help us determine your residency status and affect your tuition fees. These documents must be submitted before registering for courses. For complete information, see Legal Documents.
The tuition fees you pay when registering for courses at McGill are determined by your residency status. For complete information, see Fees.
All dates relevant to the registration period can be found in the Important Dates Supplement, along with other important information.
PLEASE NOTE – You will not be able to register on Minerva if you:
- have outstanding fees
- do not have a permanent code
- have a registration hold on your record for administrative or academic reasons
- do not have the prerequisite(s) for the course(s) for which you wish to register
- have other special requirements
If you are prevented from registering on Minerva, please contact Client Services.
In-Person Course Registration
The following students will need to register in person at Client Services and cannot use Minerva to register:
- New independent (special) students (those registering for a course at the School for the first time)
- Students who have not yet applied to a program
- Students who have not yet received their acceptance letter for admission
See the Register section for New Students for more details on registering in person.
You can register for courses during the late registration period, provided there is still space available in the course. There is a late registration fee of $25. See the Important Dates Supplement for late registration dates.
|IMPORTANT: Once you register for a course, you are responsible for the course fees. Simply not attending classes or informing the instructor does not constitute an official withdrawal. You must officially withdraw on Minerva or in person at Client Services.|
Registration by Proxy
If you are unable to register during the scheduled registration periods, you can register by proxy. The Registration Proxy Form is available at the School of Continuing Studies or online.
Students need to complete and sign the Registration Proxy Form. The proxy holder must then bring the signed form along with all supporting documents for the registering student to the School, as well as valid ID for themselves. The School will not accept proxy forms sent by fax or email.
IMPORTANT: Students using a proxy are bound by contract with McGill University.
