The Division of Urology at McGill University comprises 22 full-time urologists practicing across our affiliated hospitals and academic health centres, together with a strong community of surgeon-scientists, clinician-investigators, and research scientists at the Research Institutes of the McGill University Health Centre and the Jewish General Hospital. Together, we are committed to excellence in patient care, education, research, and innovation across the full spectrum of urology.
Our network of hospitals brings together complementary expertise and diverse clinical environments. The Cedars Cancer Centre provides comprehensive expertise in urologic oncology, while the Royal Victoria and Lachine hospitals offer specialized care in areas including infertility and andrology, benign prostatic disease, genitourinary reconstruction, and stone disease. The Jewish General Hospital has recognized expertise in functional urology, neurourology, and urologic oncology. Pediatric urology is provided through the Montreal Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital, while St. Mary’s Hospital provides general urologic care in a more community-based setting. This breadth and diversity allow us to provide highly specialized care while offering our learners exposure to a wide range of clinical settings and subspecialties.
Education is central to our mission. Our distributed clinical environment provides our trainees with comprehensive exposure to all areas of urology and prepares them for excellence in clinical practice, while also supporting those who wish to pursue careers in academia.
Research is a cornerstone of the Division. Our close collaboration among clinicians and scientists spans basic, translational, clinical, and health outcomes research. Through multidisciplinary partnerships, we seek to translate scientific discoveries into new therapies, improve patient outcomes, and advance the practice of urology. We are committed to supporting the development of the next generation of clinicians, investigators, and academic leaders.
Looking ahead, our goal is to build on the Division’s strong tradition while continuing to strengthen collaboration across our hospitals, advance clinical care and research, and provide an outstanding environment for education and faculty development. By working together across our diverse sites and disciplines, we will continue to advance urology, support our patients and communities, and position our Division for continued excellence in Canada and beyond.
