The McGill Africa Umoja Summit is a forum designed to spark exploration, foster critical dialogue, and inspire collaboration on pressing issues surrounding Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, Public Health, and Policy in Africa. Co-hosted by the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, the McGill African Studies Program, and the Margaret A. Gilliam Institute for Global Food Security, this must-attend event will bring together students, educators, government, and industry leaders to explore urgent topics that shape Africa’s future.

The word Umoja, meaning “unity” in Swahili, reflects the collaborative spirit and interconnectedness that this Summit seeks to foster, as a nexus for connecting the Montreal ecosystem with change makers and those passionate about the development of the African continent. The Summit bridges ideas, fosters collaboration, and ignites partnerships that drive impactful change.
