Motor Speech Disorders Lab
The lab specializes in the area of motor speech disorders, more specifically in:
1) understanding of the deficits underlying motor speech disorders in neurodegenerative diseases;
2) the early diagnosis and disease monitoring in neurodegenerative diseases.
Using acoustic analyses and other instrumental measures, we aim to understand the deficits underlying the impairment of the different speech subsystems as well as the interactions between them and with other cognitive processes. We also aim to develop efficient assessment tools for the detection and monitoring of motor speech disorders, including work with French speakers and acoustic biomarkers. Our current research focuses on clinical populations such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and primary progressive apraxia of speech (PPAOS).
The lab is currently recruiting. If you are a student interested in getting research experience, doing an honours project, or joining the lab please contact liziane.bouvier [at] mcgill.ca (Professor Bouvier) (liziane.bouvier [at] mcgill.ca).
