Rwaida Akra, Research Assistant

Rwaida is a dentist and research assistant in the Migrant Oral Health Project for the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Oral and Dental Surgery in 2013 and a Master's degree in Pediatric Dentistry in 2018 from Saint-Joseph's University in Lebanon. Rwaida dedicated most of her time to Community and volunteer work at the Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon, as part of the Miles for Smiles project, in collaboration with the University of Buffalo, for oral health prevention and infection control for Syrian refugees and marginalized Lebanese populations. She has also done volunteer work at many Lebanese NGOs and foundations for children with disabilities and special needs. She is currently based in Montreal and focused on research and dental studies.

Olawale Dudubo, Research Assistant

Olawale Dudubo is a PhD student in the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University, under the supervision of Dr. Mary Ellen Macdonald and Dr. Belinda Nicolau. His research interests center around oral health research, oral health disparities, childhood ethics in oral health, and use of qualitative methodology in population oral health research. He is also a member of VOICE (Views On Interdisciplinary Childhood Ethics), an interdisciplinary research team promoting the recognition of moral experience and agency of young people. His doctoral project is embedded in the Migrant Oral Health Project (MOHP) aimed to improve the oral health of refugeed people in Canada.

Asma Salem, Research Coordinator

Asma is a graduate student in the Master of Science-Dental Sciences program in the Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University. She completed her BDS degree in 1999 from Jordan University of Science and Technology and obtained her Master of Science in Pediatric Dentistry in 2002 from the University of London (Eastman dental institute). She is now a member of the Migrant Oral Health Project (MOHP) and the project coordinator under the supervision of Dr. Mary Ellen Macdonald. In addition, she is a member of the Views on Interdisciplinary Childhood Ethics Initiative (VOICE) under the supervision of Dr. Franco Carnevale.
