As Trump administration seeks to undermine climate research, SUSANHub.com is a safe haven for data

Published: 15 May 2025

Just six months ago, researchers at McGill launched SUSANHub.com, a platform for sustainability researchers to share their work. The platform has grown quickly and now counts more than 39,000 visitors each week. With the Trump Administration attacking climate research at universities and government research organizations in the United States, the platform is becoming a haven for this work. “We want to protect scientific research from the US government,” says Professor Juan Serpa, the founder of the Sustainability Action Network--from which SUSANHub takes its name. “The network is an international one, but it primarily serves researchers in the United States. We want to be proactive, and maintain a place for researchers to store their data. Because once data is disappears, it’s gone.”
