Welcome to Foo-hooa Se 復華詩 (Renaissance of Chinese Poetry)

The Foo-hooa Se 復華詩 (Renaissance of Chinese Poetry) program represents McGill’s longstanding engagement with the study and appreciation of traditional Chinese culture through verse. Endowed in 1999 through the generous gift of the late Professor Paul Hsiang, this initiative supports a range of activities that bring together scholars and students to explore the artistry, cultural significance, and enduring relevance of Chinese poetic traditions. Through the Hsiang Lectures, public events, workshops, and a published journal, the initiative fosters vibrant intellectual exchange across disciplines and communities, advancing understanding of poetry as a vital lens on literature, history, and cultural expression.
