Biography: 
Prof. Aishat Zango Abdu is a public health nutrition researcher working at the intersection of gender equality, food systems, and nutrition in low- and middle-income countries. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Global and Public Health at McGill University. Her research integrates qualitative and quantitative methods and is grounded in community-based and participatory approaches. Dr. Abdu has conducted extensive fieldwork in Ghana and led a multi-country program evaluation in Kenya, Tanzania, and Bangladesh, examining how women’s empowerment and gender-transformative strategies shape food security, diet quality, and health outcomes. Her work bridges academia, policy, and practice, advancing science–policy exchange through institutional, North–South, and South–South collaborations with academic partners and international organizations. Dr. Abdu holds a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Ahfad University for Women (Sudan) and a Master of Science and PhD in Human Nutrition from McGill University.
