19th Annual Pow Wow

The First Peoples’ House invites the McGill community to share in the celebrations for our 19th Annual Pow Wow!

Friday, September 20th, 2019

11:00am to 4:00pm

Join us under the big tent to catch the Grand Entry at 11:00am on McGill’s Lower Field. It will be a full day of traditional dancing and drumming. This is an excellent opportunity to browse artisan vendors, learn about student groups, and connect with Indigenous organizations. The Pow Wow is free and open to the public!

  • 1:00 pm Maori Haka Dancers
  • 1:45pm Round Dance/Spot dances + Traditional Dances
  • 3:00 pm Hoop Dance Demonstration
  • 3:30 pm Gift Giveaways
  • 3:45pm Closing/Retiring of the Flags

We are proud to announce that 2019 Pow Wow has been certified as a Silver McGill Sustainable Event by the McGill Office of Sustainability. To achieve this certification, we implemented actions such as:

  • Publicizing the physical accessibility features of the location
  • Including voices of diverse populations in event’s content
  • Choosing a caterer which is a social economy initiative
