Project Information

The project summary should give an overview of the research project and its objectives. Maximum 250 words.
Please describe the Intern’s responsibilities and deliverables, in particular the final deliverable for the project. Keep in mind that interns work on their projects for 10 hours per week over 12 weeks.
Are there other students, faculty, or partners working on this project with whom the intern will be interacting? Will the intern participate in lab or team meetings? Is the work entirely independent?

Intern Information

List the technical skills or experience you would like your intern to have, including ideal academic background if applicable. Please differentiate between required skills and assets.
List the transferable skills or experience you would like your intern to have. Please differentiate between required skills and assets.
Would you like your applicants to submit any additional materials to demonstrate relevant skills? e.g., writing sample.
If you are interested in supervising more than one intern at once, please indicate how many interns you would like to work with and the fund number that will be used to pay the additional intern(s) $2,500 stipend. Maximum 3 Interns per project.
Are you open to a cost sharing model for supporting your Intern? Supervisors who can contribute $1,250 toward their Intern's $2,500 award enable us to expand the reach of this program, offering the opportunity to more students and supervisors alike. This will help the department bring in a greater number of students and support more supervisors who do not have the funds to contribute.
For your project to be considered, you must agree to the internship supervisor responsibilities: 1. Create a work plan in collaboration with your intern that includes realistic milestones for their contributions to your research over the course of the semester. 2. Meet/communicate regularly (weekly or biweekly meetings, email as needed) with your intern to offer guidance, feedback and support on their work. Remember: This is not an RA position. This is an internship, and supervisors must provide mentorship to their interns. 3. Provide context so that your intern understands how their work contributes to the broader objectives of your research. 4. Lead one seminar for the internship cohort. 5. Attend the DEEP Student Poster Showcase at the end of the program and participate as a judge in the poster contest.
