Abstract

The Covid-19 Immunity Task Force (CITF) was created in April 2020 with the objectives of monitoring and understanding the nature of immunity arising from SARS-CoV-2 infection. The CITF Databank emerged as the custodian of knowledge generated by researchers who participated in the CITF initiative. It contains over 150,000 individual-level records deposited by over 70 CITF-supported studies that have met the ethical and legal requirements to deposit data and have signed a data sharing agreement (https://citfdatabank.ca). Hosted at SPGH with support from CIHR, the Databank is a source of highly curated and harmonized data for research and a platform for research to improve data sharing (i.e., metascience). In this presentation, I will first describe the development and current status of the CITF Databank, including how to access data. I will then present examples of research using data from the Databank and examples of research on the process of data sharing.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this talk, attendees will be able to:

Understand the role of the Covid-19 Immunity Task Force (CITF) and the CITF Databank in the context of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic
Be aware of epidemiological research using serology, including the types of data involved, and how they can be used for research;
Be aware of the role of data sharing in science and the potential to improve this process through research.

Speaker Bio

David Buckeridge is a Professor in the School of Population and Global Health at McGill University, the Chief Digital Health Officer and the lead for Data Science and Digital Health Research at the MUHC. He holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Health Informatics and Data Science, is an Associate Member with the Montreal AI Institute (Mila) and is a Member of the Centre of Genomics and Policy. He has a MD (Queen's), a MSc in Epidemiology (Toronto), a PhD in Biomedical informatics (Stanford), and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
