Congratulations to Samuel Dayo, Ataollah Saeed Monir, Mousa Karimi, and Professor Boris Vaisband on their paper titled "Statistical Weight Refresh System for CTT-Based Synaptic Arrays." The paper was presented at the ACM/IEEE Great Lakes Symposium on VLSI 2023. We are proud to announce that their work received the second-place Best Poster/Late Breaking Research (LBR) Award. ACM/IEEE GLSVLSI showcases cutting-edge research and innovations in VLSI design and provides a platform for experts to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration.

We are proud to announce that Yousef Safari, a PhD candidate in our Department, is the recipient of the prestigious IEEE Electronic Packaging Society (EPS) PhD Fellowship for 2023. Yousef’s work in large-scale heterogeneous integration has earned him this honor. ECE Professor Tal Arbel recently presented research at the “AI and the Future of Cancer Research” (From the Goodman Cancer Research Centre’s Public Lecture Series).

Professor Arbel spoke about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and specifically her research focus on computer vision, already showing clinical success in the fields of brain tumours and multiple sclerosis.

Congratulations to PhD candidate Farhad Shokraneh for receiving the Best Paper Award at the Asia Communications and Photonics Conference in October 2018. The paper, entitled “A 4x4 Reconfigurable Optical Processor” is co-authored by Mr. Shokraneh’s supervisor, Professor Odile Liboiron-Ladouceur, and Reza Nezami, Ph.D., and are the latest results of a project funded by the FRQNT Équipe programme “Accélérateur Photonique Embarqué pour Algorithmes d’Apprentissage Profond”.
