Professor Maryam Tabrizian has been inducted as a Fellow with the Royal Society of Canada. The Society announced the induction of 89 new Fellows today, each one elected by their peers in recognition of outstanding scholarly, scientific and artistic achievement. Election to the Royal Society of Canada is the highest honour a scholar can achieve.
This book provides up-to-date information on all aspects of orofacial pain biomarkers. Background information on clinical symptoms and the neurobiology of orofacial pain is introduced. The book also discusses biomarkers for various types of orofacial pain and their potential. Finally, future directions and challenges are identified.

Part-time, clinical track (non-tenure) academic position in Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Dental Pharmacology, Dental Anaesthesia, Oral Diagnosis or other relevant fields of dentistry. Candidates must have completed an undergraduate degree in Dentistry, have relevant training and be licensable to practice dentistry in Quebec.
This position, available for a period of 1year, is to complete a research project on the effects of chiral molecules on the properties of brushite ceramic. The person accepted into this position will be expected to build upon previous work done in the lab to extend our findings that chiral molecules exert regulatory hierarchical control over the properties brushite ceramic.
Two McGill Dentistry teams are working on getting their products to market. Assistant Professor Dr. Faleh Tamimi and his team and Postdoctoral fellow Dr. Ashwaq Al-Hashedi presented their projects at this year McGill Dobson Cup, an annual startup competition for the McGill community. A new study in mice suggests that scientists may someday be able to treat nerve pain by transplanting embryonic nerve cells to restore a broken nervous system. Congratulations to Master’s student Omar Sabsoob! His poster presentation "Factors Associated with Acute and Chronic Painful Temporomandibular Disorders" earned him the Réseau en Santé Buccodentaire et Osseuse (RSBO) Best Poster Presentation Award on March 11th, and the Pain Joint Retreat 2016 Best Poster Presentation Award in April 2016.
Congratulations to recent M.Sc. graduate and current Ph.D. student Murali Ramamoorthi! Supervised by Dr. Simon Tran, Murali has been awarded a Doctoral Training Award by the Fond de Recherche en Santé du Québec (FRSQ) for his research project "Mitigating Radiation Induced Damage to Salivary Glands by Radiopaque Radiosensitizing Nanoparticle Formulation".
