Yerbury runs rampant as Martlets blitz Boston 73-0 in wild tea party

STE. ANNE DE BELLEVUE, Que. --  Briana Yerbury scored 17 points and Brianna Miller added 14 as the McGill women's rugby team opened their preseason with a resounding 73-0 whitewash over visiting Boston University at McEwen Field, Saturday.

 

Yerbury, a political science senior from Monteal, tallied three tries and one conversion, while Miller, a physical education freshman from Pointe Claire, Que., contributed a pair of tries and two conversions.

 

Also scoring two tries apiece was freshman Noala Beattie-Dagenais of Hemmingford, Que., and sophomore Trischa Walsh of Montreal.

 

Single tries were credited to Kathleen Deckert of Caledon, Ont., Sydney Black of Calgary, Michelle Crook of Ayers Cliff, Que., and Toronto native Cristyn Edwards. Rounding out the scoring was veteran Chelsea Privee of Pointe Claire, Que., with one conversion.

 

The Martlets (1-0) will host UPEI on Sunday at 12 noon.
