MONTREAL - The impending National Hockey League lockout has been a boon to the fourth annual Redmen 4-on-4 Summer Hockey tournament. A dozen players affiliated with NHL teams have signed up to take part in the one-day event on Saturday (Aug. 25) at McConnell Arena (3883 University) on the campus of McGill University.

Among the pros confirmed is David Desharnais of the Montreal Canadiens and Maxime Talbot of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Others include Philippe Dupuis (Pittsburgh), Bruno Gervais (Philadelphia), Pier-Marc Bouchard (Minnesota), Guillaume Desbiens (Calgary), Pier-Cédric Labrie (Tampa Bay), Jean-Philippe Côté (Tampa Bay), François Bouchard (NY Rangers), Yann Sauvé (Vancouver), Nicolas Deslauriers (Los Angeles) and Nicolas Blanchard (Carolina).

The tourney will feature 10 teams, with up to 10 players apiece, including a maximum of four elite players per team. Elite participants are considered to be anyone who played last season at the university level or higher. McGill players and coaches will serve as captains for each squad.

Mini-games (28-minutes, running time) are slated all day, beginning with the opener at 9 a.m. and culminating with the tourney's gold medal game at 9:45 p.m.

The format is a three-game round-robin, with the top four teams advancing to the playoff round, composed of a sudden-death semifinal and  final games.
