Miller and Burst named McGill - Ye Olde Orchard athletes of the week

MONTREAL - Brianna Miller of Pte. Claire, Que., and Ross Burst of St. Louis, Missouri, are the McGill University athletes of the week, sponsored by Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill, for the period ending Sept. 11, 2011.

 

Miller, a 5-foot-5 fly-half on the women's rugby team, scored 26 points in a 71-0 victory at Sherbrooke last Saturday. The 19-year-old physical education sophomore tallied a pair of tries and kicked an impressive  eight conversions, the second-highest single-game total in Quebec university history, five converts short of the record for most conversions is 13. Miller is a product of John Abbott College.

 

Burst, an attackman on the men's lacrosse squad, scored 11 points, including five goals, in two weekend victories. Heregistered eight points, including a hat-trick and the game-winning goal, in an 11-10 victory over the Trent Eccalibur in Peterborough, Sunday. The previous day, the 20-year-old management sophomore netted two markers and set up another in a 16-9 win over Toronto. Prior to enrolling at McGill, he attended The Hill Academy in Vaughan, Ont.
