McGill soccer's Eullaffroy named CSL coach of the year

Published: 28 October 2009

MONTREAL -- Philippe Eullaffroy, who coached the McGill men's soccer team for the last five seasons before taking an extended leave to direct the Trois-Rivières  Attak, a pro team in the Canadian Soccer League, has won CSL coach-of-the-year honours.

Eullaffroy, a 46-year-old native of Troyes, France guided the Attak, a young farm team of the Montreal Impact, to a 12-4-2 first-place record in the six-team National Division of the CSL. The Attak then swept  Portugal FC in two straight games during the quarterfinals, posted a 1-0-2 record over  the Italia Shooters in the semifinals and edged the International Division champion Serbian Eagles 3-2 on penalty kicks to capture the CSL championship on Oct. 24, after playing a man short for most of the second half.

Eullaffroy guided McGill to a 29-18-13 regular season record from 2004 to 2008. He was also named QUSL coach of the year in each of his last three campaigns with the Redmen before being replaced in an interim basis by David Simon.
