HAMILTON, Ont - Nikita Robins of Maple Ridge, B.C., and Leigh Ritucci of Quincy, Mass., each registered a hat-trick and one assist as McGill defeated McMaster 15-7 in the second game of a women's lacrosse doubleheader in Hamilton, Saturday.

The Martlets were tripped 17-2 to division-leading Toronto (6-0) in the second match.

Other McGill marksmen in the win over McMaster included Bryanne Leeming (2 goals) of Hanover, N.H., Jacquie Millette of Longmeadow, Mass., Julia Duke of Lafayette, Calif.,  Dana Ballard of Silver Spring, Md., Jessica Kras of Dundas, Ont., Kristen Murphy of Hopkinton, N.H., Melissa Albanese of Montclair, N.J., and Caroline Lucas-Conwell, a native of Paris, France.

Junior goalkeeper Liz Kenney of Westwood, Mass., started and allowed four goals on five shots. She was replaced by Mary-Claire Worrell, a senior from Buffalo, N.Y., who was credited with the victory after kicking aside five of eight shots in 40 minutes of play.

In the loss to Toronto, Millette and Lucas-Conwell each scored for the Martlets. Worrell went the distance between the pipes and conceded 17 goals on 22 shots.

With five games remaining before playoffs, the fifth-place Martlets (2-4-1) are three points behind Western (4-2-0) and Laurier (4-3-0) for the fourth and final playoff berth in the OUA standings. Queen's (6-3) sits second in the seven-team conference.

The Martlets travel to Waterloo on Oct. 17 to take on Laurier and Western for a crucial doubleheader that will likely decide who qualifies for post-season play.
