Empowering Women

Never underestimate the power of a woman. Now multiply that by 25 and you have the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce Business Women’s Alliance. Founded in 2006, the Business Women’s Alliance is a committee of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce. Its mission is to empower and develop women through education, networking, mentoring and partnerships while promoting opportunities for all women throughout Citrus County.

... Dorothy Pernu became a BWA member through an inheritance of sorts. “One of the first things the committee did was come up with a name, then a mission statement and goals,” says Pernu, who has a Bachelor’s of Commerce degree from Quebec-based McGill University and has been with Seven Rivers for nearly 25 years. “That initial mission and those guidelines have continued to serve as a solid foundation for the expo.”
