Convocation congratulations, and Principal’s Prizes for Excellence in Teaching

Published: 10 November 2015

On behalf of the Faculty of Science and on the occasion of Science Convocation ceremonies (November 10, 2015), Dean of Science Bruce Lennox offers congratulations to all graduating students, from B.Sc. to Ph.D., and also to the following prizewinners.

Prof. Andrew Hendry (Redpath Museum and Department of Biology) and Prof. John Stix (Earth & Planetary Sciences) are the Faculty of Science's two most recent winners of the Principal’s Prizes for Excellence in Teaching, in the Associate Professor and Full Professor categories respectively.

Students describe Professor Hendry as “incredibly passionate about his field, which is evident in every minute of every lecture and is inescapably passed on to the students”, and note that Professor Stix “was always prepared and showed us the coolest demonstrations that were memorable and helped me understand the material.”

For more about Professors Hendry and Stix, please refer to the McGill Reporter article "Top teachers celebrated at Fall Convocation."
