Competition Announcement: Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarship

Up to 15 Trudeau Scholarships are awarded nationally each year to support doctoral candidates pursuing research of compelling present-day concern, touching upon one or more of the four themes of the Foundation (Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada in the World, and People and Their Natural Environment). Trudeau Scholars are highly gifted individuals who are actively engaged in their fields and expected to become leading national and international figures.

The Scholars are announced each year during the month of June. The deadline to apply is October 15, 2011.

Please contact your Department or consult the Trudeau Foundation website

* (1) An annual stipend of $40,000, which is intended to cover the cost of tuition and reasonable living expenses. If a Trudeau Scholar concurrently holds other scholarships or fellowships that allow for the accumulation of awards, and if the total value of those external awards exceeds $10,000, the Foundation will subtract the amount over $10,000 from the $40,000 annual stipend. (2) an annual travel allowance of $20,000, which is available to support research-related travel and to cover networking expenses associated with the Foundation's Public Interaction program.

 

Summary of eligibility

  • Canadians or international students, with preference for those from the developing world.
  • Tenable in Canadian universities, and exceptionally outside Canada.
  • Applying to a doctoral program, or registered in the first or second year of doctoral program.
  • Applicant must hold a First Class CGPA.
