The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) announced this fall that Professor Andrea Bjorklund has been named its first Scholar in Residence.

A renowned expert in international arbitration and international investment & trade law, Professor Bjorklund holds the Fortier Chair in International Arbitration and International Commercial Law at McGill’s Faculty of Law. She will continue to be based at McGill, while travelling as needed to Washington, DC.

“It is an honor and a privilege to have been named ICSID’s first scholar-in-residence,” said Professor Bjorklund. “I look forward to working with Meg Kinnear and her team on some special projects, including one to herald the 50th anniversary of the ICSID’s Convention. It is important to my work to be aware of on-the-ground issues in the investment arbitration community, and working with ICSID is an ideal way to learn about current practices and challenges.”

As an ICSID Scholar in Residence, Professor Bjorklund will work on a number of special assignments with the ICSID Secretariat. The ICSID Scholar in Residence is a new initiative which complements ICSID's role in furthering the development of international investment law and practice.

The Faculty of Law congratulates Professor Bjorklund on this prestigious nomination.
