Workshop session with the scientific folders from Concordia University’s Biochemistry lab. Led by Professor Louis Cuccia, and inspired by origami, this group researches the fundamental principles involved with molecular and macromolecular 'folding'. Join them and learn how to make some of their favourite scientific folds such as the parabola and the leaf.
Dawson Gallery, 2nd floor.
After the folding session, watch the 2008 documentary film Between the Folds which examines the art of origami as well as its relationship to math and science. This award-winning film tells the stories of ten origami scientists who have devoted their lives to folding paper, including physicist Robert J. Lang who created the full-sized origami Pteranodon that glides above the Redpath Museum’s dinosaur skeleton.
Auditorium, entrance level, 4 pm.
