Secure version of Microsoft Copilot available to McGill community!
McGill offers a secure version of Microsoft Copilot that protects our data, known as the Commercial Data Protection version. Microsoft Copilot, formerly known as Bing Chat or Bing Chat for Enterprise, is an AI tool built into Microsoft Edge.
By engaging with an AI chatbot, Microsoft Copilot can:
- Answer your questions
- Summarize long online documents in Microsoft Edge
- Generate content such as new types of media, including text, images and more!
IMPORTANT: Ensure you are using the Commercial Data Protection (secure) version of Microsoft Copilot.
There are two different versions of Microsoft Copilot, and it is important to know which one you’re using.
- The Commercial Data Protection (secure) version does conform with University’s privacy and data protection standards and can be securely used when signed in.
- The public version of Microsoft Copilot does NOT conform to the University’s privacy and data protection standards and should not be used for McGill-related purposes.
How to access the Commercial Data Protection (secure) version:
To access the secured version, visit the KB: About Microsoft Copilot.
When logged in with your McGill credentials, look for the green shield and checkmark indicating that you are logged into the Commercial Data Protection (secure) version of Microsoft Copilot.
