Negotiation Update: AMUSE (Casual Employees)

On September 22, 2020, the parties met to exchange non-monetary proposals for the renewal of the collective agreement for non-academic casuals. The collective agreement expired on May 31, 2020. Since then, the Parties have met 17 times for half-day virtual sessions. Several non-monetary items have been agreed upon between the parties, including:

  1. Psychological and Sexual Harassment;
  2. Disciplinary measures;
  3. Employee files;
  4. Probationary period;
  5. Posting and Granting of Assignments;
  6. Schedule of work;
  7. Health and Safety in the Workplace;
  8. Employment Contract;
  9. Letter of Agreement regarding McGill’s Action Plan to Address Anti-Black Racism 2020-2025.

Discussions with respect to paid holidays, social leaves and sick leave are progressing and we expect to finalize discussions shortly. The Union has also presented its monetary proposal and McGill is expected to respond to the Union’s proposal in the coming weeks.
