Education Alum Gerard Lewis Receives Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence
Gerard Lewis, a graduate of McGill's Concurrent B.Ed. and B.Sc. Mathematics (Class of 2004) was recently awarded Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence for igniting the love of learning. The award recognizes Gerard's exemplary teaching practices and his dedication to supporting teachers. Part of the Toronto Catholica District School Board, Gerard is the Mathematics Facilitator, Kindergarten to Grade eight. Lauded for his years of leadership, digital and creative literacy in the classroom, Gerard has been described by his peers as a scientist and researcher in addition to being a pedagogue. In addition to his virtues as a STEM educator, Gerard incorporates contemporary social justice themes in the classroom, striving to prepare students to be global citizens.
