Dr. Liane Feldman elected SAGES President
The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) has announced the election of Dr. Liane Feldman as its incoming 2021-22 president. SAGES represents a global community of more than 7,000 surgeons bringing minimal access surgery, endoscopy and emerging techniques to patients worldwide.
Dr. Feldman is Chair of the Department of Surgery at McGill University and Surgeon in Chief at the McGill University Health Centre. She was the James IV Traveller for Canada (2010) and received the Canadian Association for Medical Education Junior award for distinguished contribution to medical education (2008).
Dr. Feldman is the former SAGES President-Elect, having previously served on the Executive Committee as Treasurer and Vice President. She is past Chair of the Finance Committee, was the inaugural Chair of the SMART Enhanced Recovery Task Force and is past co-chair of FUSE (Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy) and of the Quality, Outcomes and Safety committees. She co-chaired SAGES 2018 World Congress in Seattle. In addition to the Board & Executive Committee, she currently serves on the Finance, FUSE and QOS committees and is the inaugural chair of the Reimagining the Practice of Surgery Task Force.

Over the next year, I’ll continue to focus on innovative educational programs that both enhance surgeons’ performance and experience in and out of the OR and improve patient outcomes.”
